THE NEW HEBRIDES.
AN UNSATISFACTORY ARRANGEMENT. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, December 5. The Herald-, commenting on the New Hebrides situation, says the present arrangement between Britain and France cannot last very long. "We cannot," says the Herald, "expect the Mother Country to negotiate with the idea that she is to bear all the burden possible in the exchange of territory or monetary compensation in the event of a casli settlement. Any statesmanlike handling of the thorny question will appeal to the Commonwealth, and a reasonable claim for substantial financial help will be accepted and endorsed without haggling or regret."
