OCTOGENARIAN DROWNED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Gore, Last Night. A man over 80 years of age, named Thomas Burrows, was found drowned in the Mystery Flat dredging dam at Waikaia yesterday. He was in. bed at a hotel a mile away at 11 p.m. on Saturday night. How he got away' unobserved ami walked the distance (being very feeble) is unexplained at present. FOUND DROWNED. Tnvercargill, Last Night. Thomas Barrett, aged TD, single, and an old age pensioner, was found dead in the dam of the Mystery Flat dredge, a mile and a half from Waikaia this morning. A BODY FOUND. Wellington, Monday. While walking round the beach at Parematta yesterday, a resident noticed the body of a man lying on the rocks. The corpse, which was badly decomposed, was removed to Porirua. It is thought tliat the body is that of the young Italian laborer, Antonio Ferratti, who was drowned as the result of the capsizing of a boat near Parematta a fortnight ago. Wellington, Last Night. An inquest was held to-day at Porirua by Dr. McArthur on the body of Antonio Ferretti, a young Italian who was drowned at Parana ta a fortnight ago and whose body was recovered on Sunday at Paremata Heads. The evidence showed that deceased and his mate were .out.in,a sailing boat which capsized at Paremata bar. Ferretti disappeared, but. his mate hung on to the boat and was rescued. -A verdict was returned that the deceased was accidentally drowned. CHILD FATALLY BURNED. Auckland, Monday. Annie McNamara, aged 5 years, died in the hospital as the result of burns received at her parents' residence, Grafton road. The child was playing with maflcMSTahil at't' fire" to 'her"clot Ties. ELECTRIC LTUHT FATALITY. Dunedin, Monday. John Fazaterley, working on the corporation electric overhead wires, was making a joint when he received a slight shock, causing him to call out, and Chas. Neville, foreman, a married man 40 years of age, went to his assistance. Both men fell off the ladder to the ground, Neville beinnj underneath. The fall caused his death. It is supposed he broke his neck. The other man's injuries are not serious. A CHILD DROWNED. Thames, Monday. A drowning case is reported from Hauraki Plains.. Two Women and a seven-year-old child Quartermain were in a boat pulling along the river, when the child overbalanced and'- fell overboard. The women saw the child rise to the surface, but were helpless. The body was soon carried away .by the fastrunning river.
