A BARQUE ABANDONED. SHIFTING OF BALLAST, By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney. December 4. The barque Kettv lias arrived at Newcastle with the crew of the abandoned barque Lakemba. The captain of the latter stated that oh October 0 he met a heavy gale and enormous seas. lie hope to during the night, but the sand ballast shifted, and the vessel heeled over on to her beam ends. They worked hard for two days to right her. Then the Ketty hove in sight, and the Lakemba's captain decided to abandon her, as it was hopeless to save her. The Lakemba was still floating when she was left, but the captain was of opinion that she would soon fill and sink. POSITION OF THE TEES. 1 Vancouver. December 3. The position of the Tees is not dangerous. The passengers have been landed, and tugs a-re standing by. The wireless communication broke down in consequence of the high cliffs interrupting the messages. PROBABLE WRECK. Received 5, 1-2.45 a.m. The captain of the steamer Kapunda reports passing floating cases, apparently full of merchandise, for nearly an hour, off Kiama. Thev appeared not to have been in the water long.
