The following is the High Commissioner's cablegram under date London, December 2. There is dull sale for all qualities, and the quantity going into consumption at present is very small. Canterbury, 4%d and 4%d. Lam'b.—There is a better tone in the market this week. There is a limited demand, but the stock is. small. Supplies of Canterbury are nearly exhausted. Canterbury 5%d, other than Canterbury 4d. Beef.—The market is quiet,, but firm at the advance. The shipment of butter ex Rotorua arrived in good condition. Cheese.—The market is quiet, but firm. The shipment of cheese ex Rotorua arrived in good condition. The itverage price for the week for finest New Zealand cheese per ewt, is 68s to 60s, Cartadinn 70s. \ ' Hemp.—The market is quiet and steady. New Zealand good fair grade on spot per ton £lO life, fair grade £l9, fair current Manila £2O, forward shipment New Zealand good fair £2O, fair grade £lO ss, fair current Manila £2o' ss. The output from Manila for the week was 20,000 bales. Cocksfoot Seed.—The market remains firm. .... . Wheat.—The market is steady, but there is no demand. New Zealand longberried wheat ex granary (per quarter of 4961b) 35s 6d, short-berried 34s fld. The quotations are nominal. Oats.—The market is firm, with a hardening tendency.
