The well known Maori chief Wherowhero Tawhaio died at Waahi on Thursday, states an Auckland Press Association message. Tin? deceased was the son of the late "King" Tawhaio, and brother of present "Kin;:" Mahuta. A large tangi will .be hel'i. Word 1 has been received that Dr. Parkinson, a IJawcra J>oy who graduated two years ago, son of Mr. W. A. Parkinson, of the Hawcra Star, has just taken the further degree of F.R.C.S., England. During the past two years ho has been doing hospital work- in London. For twelve months he was one of the house surgeons at St. Thomas', and for a time ho had charge of one of the smaller institutions.
