THE GIS BORNE FINALS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Gisbornc, Last Night. In the final heavy-weight amateur boxing to-night, V. Lowe forfeited to his brother, B. Lowe. The professional contest between Jim Griffin, middle-weight champion of Australia, and Fred Williams, runner-up for the_ Auckland heavy-weight championship, was a veiry willing go, Williams having a good ileal the l>est of matters, and compelling Griffin to take the coun<t on several occasions. At the end of the fifth round Griffin went to his corner in a groggy condition, and on the sixth round opening Williams immediately rushed Griffin in his corner. The latter wont on his knees, and the referee disqualified Williams for hitting Griffin while on his knees. The decision was adversely received! by the crowd, Williams being carried shoulder high round the ring. The referee (Mr. I. j Fake) was hooted a good deal.
