DAYLIGHT ROBBERY. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, November 30. A sensa/tional case of daylight robbery is reported from Brookvale, ten miles from Sydney. A resident was bailed up by masked men armed with a gun. The resident attempted (light, init was struck on the head with the gun. The highwaymen escaped. A STRANGE PHENOMENON. Melbourne, November 30. A strange occurrence took place in Curdie's river. The water became white with froth, which afterwards turned to green slime. The fish died and cattle refused to drink the water. It is supposed the phenomenon was the result of volcanic disturbance. A similar thing happened twenty years ago. CIVIL SERVANTS AND ARBITRATION Melbourne, November 30.
In the Federal House Mr. Hughes introduced a Bill to provide that employment in the Commonwealth public service be deemed' an industry within the meaning of the Arbitration' Act.
