A. and P. Show.
A SECOND DAY'S RECORD. TREMENDOUS HOLIDAY CROWD. The weather on the second day was bright and breezy, and from the early hours it was seen that the fondest hopes of the promoters in the matter of attendance were to be realised. There was a great gathering of farmers and townspeople from all parts of the province, and, the brilliant sunshine tempting the ladies to appear in their summer finery, the grounds presented a gay spectacle, All the trains to Stratford during the morning were crowded with excursionists, and the exceptionally heavy traffic was handled most expeditiously by the local railway staff. The loyalty of the people of the district to the Association was shown by the crowded slate of the fine horse paddock. A peep at this became quite a fashionable pastime. Not only did the host of horses and vehicles tell the story of a big attendance, but the type of gigs and dog-earts, etc., showed clearly the prosperity of the district. But in the background old Egmont was sternly threatening. Happy / holiday-makers ignored him, and then came his revenge. About the middle of the afternoon, just when the thousands had crowded round the ring to sec the grand parade of stock, a shower came. From then onwards the weather was most unpleasant. But on the whole the Association was more fortunate in the matter of weather than most of the kindred associations. On all hands were heard enthusiastic praises of the people who had made such a success of this, Stratford's second annual show. The showmen spent a profitable day, and the representatives of business firms had reason to be pleased with the attention bestowed upon their wares. The large membership of the Association, and tlio general popularity of the show, will, it is thought, compel them to largely increase the grandstand accommodation for future shows. But in matters of this kind the executive is not likely to lag behind. The one way of keeping up to the present high standard is t<i go forward and surpass it. and that is the motto here. The following are the results of vesterday's judging:—, ; ' i
