BAYLY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP. By Telegraph—Own* reporter. Stratford, Wednesday. Mr. P. Skoglund, secretary of tlie TWanaki Rugby Union, informs me that the following is the result of the long jump competition held Monday to finish the Bayly Memorial Scholarship athletic competitions test: Carroll (Stratford) 10ft (Sin, 40 marks, 1; Crone (New Plymouth) l'oft Sin, 30 marks 2; Bacon (New Plymouth) loft 2in, 25 marks, 3. The standard was reached 'illso by Campbell (Stratford)' 14ft 7V 2 in, Pennington (Ngaere) 14ft 7in, Day (New Plymouth) 14ft 7in, Tickers (Stratford) 14ft 2in, and Coutts (Tariki) 13ft lOin. These bays gained 30 points. Crone and Oa.rrall are thus easily in the lead in "the athletic competitions with 225 and 200 -jnarks respectively. The other boya scored as follows: Bacon (■New Plymouth) 120, .Campbell (Stratford) 90, Vickers (Stratford) 90, Pennington. (Nga-ere) 90, Day (New Plymouth) 80.
The scholarship tost is not completed, otf course, until the scholastic attainment is considered, and the leading figures may be altered under this heading. Time will tell.
