A SERIOUS AFFRAY.
CHINESE CREW MUTINY. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, November 28. A portion of the Chinese crew of the steamer Netherlee, lying in the harbor, mutinied. During the affray Arnold fourth engineer, and Tobin, the watchman, were shot, the formerly seriously. The trouble arose owing to s Chinaman attempting to go ashore against orders. The watchman stopped him, and the alien called his countrymen from the ship. They swarmed over the side and attacked the watchman and fourth engineer with sticks and pieces of iron. A gang of dock laborers came to their assistance, but the Chinese mess boy drew a revolver and shot the engineer in the chest. The laborers then sought shelter, and th> Chinese started belaboring the fallen officer over the head. Seeing his danger, the laborers again rushed out, and a fierce fight raged' up and down the wharf, the Chinese being gradually forced back to the ship. The mess boy fired several more shots, one of which struck the watchman in the thigh. The Chinese went aboard all quiet, and when the police arrived four of the crew were arrested.
