The Industrial Court president overruled the conviction. of a permanent employee for accepting work with an-, other employer on his statutory halfholiday. The president held the Wages Board had no power to dictate bow a man should spend his holiday, which was given unconditionally and with the right to use it as he liked. MEAT WORKERS' UNION. Received 2<>, 11 p.m. Sydney, November 27. An Australasian Meat Industry Employees' Union has been formed. The membership already totals 0000. Negotiations are proceeding for other kindred unions to join. GOVERNMENT TRAMWAYMEN. Received 28, 12.45 a.m. Sydney, November 27. The Tramwaymens' Association pressed a claim for 8s for an eight hours day. Mr. McGowen, in reply, favored placing them on the same standard of wages as outsiders, and anticipated they would benefit by the Eight Hours Bill he was introducing next session.
