A London cablegram reports that the Observer announces that Maggie Papakura lias become engaged to Mr. Staples Brown, who belongs to an Oxfordshire family, and the marriage will take place later in Fiji. A London cablegram announces the death of Lord Tweeddale, at the age of 85 years. Lord Tweeddale was the tenth Marquess, the family having held a Scottish barony since 1488, and having had many distinguished' members. Lord Tweeddale served in the Bengsil Civil Service from 1845-1802, and on his return to England represented, first Taunton and later Haddington Burghs in the House of Gammons. His heir is Efurl Gifford, V.C.
