The acting-chairman of the Taranaki Petroleum Company received a cable on Saturday afternoon Hating that Messrs. Brown and Gaiter left Sydney at 3 o'clock that afternoon by the Ulimaroa for Wellington, where they are due on Wednesday next. Mr. J. Hammond, the aviator, who has been unfortunate enough to sufTert a severe illness since his arrival in New Zealand, is now quite recovered. With Mrs. ITammond he left for Sydney, en route to England and Europe, by the Moera'ki last Friday. Messrs. X. T. Lambourne, M.A., headmaster of the Mangere school, and J. W. McThvraith, M.A., L.L.8., Litt. D., of the Normal School, Christchurch, were appointed inspectors by the Auckland 1 Education Board 011 Wednesday. There were 49 applications for the two positions.
The authorities of the Methodist Ohurch at Christchurch have received cable news from the president of the British Conference that the Rev. Valla nee Cook, one of the prominent evangelists of the English Methodist Church, will visit. New Zealand in 1913 to conduct the mission of inspiration and appeal.
