INGLEWOOD NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent). The concert in aid of the Boy ScuSts was held in the Parish Hall on Thursday evening, and was a distinct success. A good programme was presented, which was greatly enjoyed by those present. The first item was a, song by Mr. Walter Matthews, "Peg away, lads,' this being followed bv a comic recitation by Mr. S'ltewitt, which was enthusiastically received. Good service was also rendered bv Mr. lline, song; Richardson. song; Mrs. Roberts, song; Mr. land, song; Miss Ivy Sutherland, song; Mr. Taylor, recitation; two glees by a glee party under the leadership of Mr. L. Sutherland; a dialogue by the Scouts; and also two orchestral selections by Mr. Cottier's orchestra. The second half of the programme was taken up by Mr. F-rcwiu, who very kindly gave an hour's cinematograph pictures, which, as may be imagined, added very largely to the enjoyment of the audience, and also to the financial success of the evening. The funds are to go towards the ,co=t of a fife and drum band for the boys. The chair was taken by His Worship the Mayor, Mr. (Jeo. Rennet!, who, in the course of a short address, spoke wry kindly-of the Scouts. Owing to the length of the programme the usual vote of thanks was dispensed with, the chairman voicing the thanks of all concerned to all the ladies and gentlemen who had helped. The gross takings for tickets and at the door amuunted to well over .€B, leaving when all extra arc paid a balance of about £7 10s. An announcement was made which was neeived with much ap-1 plause, viz., that Mr. 11. Kennedy had] consented to act us assistant Scoutmaster. Mr. Kennedy is so well known in Inglewood as instructor to the, gymnasium club that the fact of his associating himself with the Soul-, is sure, i to bring along a lot of fresh recruits. The suits for '■lolanthc" are being| booked very rapidly, and anyone who wishes to reserve one for either night's performance will do well to do so right away to avoid being left out in the cold, "lolanthe" and Sir Joseph Ward's visit are the two strings to our harp at the present time. Of both, more later.
