WEBSTER BEOS.' REPORT. Poultry.—At the mart on Saturday we had a very heavy entry of all classes of birds, about 300 being penned. Prices were well maintained throughout. We quote:—Hens (old), la 7d to Is lOd; young, 2a 4d to 2s 8d; p.b. Brown Leghorn hens, 3s to 4s 4d; cockerels, Is 6d to 2s; ducks, Is lid to 2s 3d; ducklings, 6d to Is Od, according to age; hen and chicks, 5s- Od to 8a 3d; chicks, 5d to sy a d; Bantams, 7d to lid; dressed cockerels, Is lOd. The usual line of auction sundries realised satisfactory prices. Tuesday, on account of Mrs. J. J. Milburn at her residence in Dawson street, we held a clearing sale of all her household furniture and effects. Bidding was spirited i throughout, and each line offered met with keen competition.
Fruit.—During the week this has been in fair supply on account of the shipment of American, apples arriving. Prices were as follows:—Bananas (ripe) 2%d lb, green lis 9d to 12s; pineapples, originals 9s 3d, repacks 10s 6d; lemons, 3s 6d'to 6s, according to size; apples, American Winesaps 10s 6dj tomatoes, choice Is Id per lb, seconds 8d to 9d lb, /thirds <%d.lb; green peas, Is Id peck; new potatoes, Id lb; cocoanuts, lis a sack. LOCAL MARKETS. Butchers' Meat. Beef: Sirloin, 6dj prime ribs, sd; rump steak, 8d; beef from 3d to 6d; corned beef, 4d and 6d. Mutton: Legs 6d; chops, fid; loin, fid; shoulders, Sd per lb; necks, 3d. Veal, 3d to 5d per lb. Sausages:, Beef, Sd, pork Bd. Lamb: Legs, 6dj forequarters, 4s 6d; hindquarters, 5s 6d. Pork: Fresh, 6d per lb. Fowls, 5s to 6s per pair; ducks, 6s per pair. Dripping, 6d per lb. These prices are for eash only; y s d per lb. for booking over cash prices charged by New Plymouth one week. General Groceries.—Rolled oats and oatina, lOd bag; oatmeal, 3s Od per 251b bag; flour, roller, 1001b, lis 3d, 50Lb 6s, 25H> 3s 3d.
Cereals, etc.—Oats, Gartons, 3s 9d per bushel, Duns 3s 9d, crushed oats 4s; barley, 3s 9d; crashed beans, 5s Gd; pollard 7s 3d per MX)lb, 14s per SOOlbs; bran, 6s per 1001b; fowl wheat, 4s 6d per bushel; maize, 4s 6d to 5s per bushel. ©airy Produce, etc—Butter: Faetory Is 3d, dairy Bd, best separator Is Id per lb; cheese, Sd per lb; <ggs, lid per doz.; lard, 9d per lb; bacon, rashers, lOd per lb; hams, 9»/ 2 d per lb; milk, 4d per quart.
