PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATE
FINED FOR DRUNKENNESS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Chrisitc-Utirch, Last Night. John McLaehkn, of Ashlmrton, a candidate for Parliament, did not appear when his name was called in the Police Court this afternoon to answer to a charge of drunkenness. The magistrate (Mr. bishop) pinuiiml if the of-Sub-Inspector McUraih replied in I lie affhrotidve. His Worship commented on the irnpropriotory of a man yielding to drink when he might have to punish others for a similar offence. The accused did not appear and was fined 10s, in default 48 hours' imprisonment.
