SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Meteorological Office has issued the following summary and forecast: — A change in the weather has taken place, westerly winds giving place to strong aoutberlies, with colder weather. The barometer rose in the south during the fright and snow fell on the higher levels in the South Island. Heavy rain and hail has also been experienced in parts. Present indications are for strong southerly winds generally, cold and changeable weather, rain in most parts of the country, and frosts inland in the south. Rough seas will probably be experienced on all the western coast and southward of East Cape. The barometer is now rising everywhere and the weather is likely to improve in a short tune.
