THE WEATHER.
SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The 'Meteorological Office has issued the following weather summary and forecast:—The barometer has continued low in the south, but a centre of low presBUre, with an apparent minimum of 28.20 inches, has passed through Cook Strait about noon to-day, and heavy rain has fallen about these parts. Rain is also reported in the northern and southernmost districts. Westerly winds predominate, strong to gale in parts, but winds have been very variable. Present indications are for a change from variable to strong southerly winds generally in a short time, when the barometer is expected to rise everywhere. Unsettled and cloudy weather, with heavy showers, are probable generally, with colder weather following in the south.
