BIG MAIL ROBBERY.

Out of 1.15 mail haps for India and the Far East eighteen were opened near Macon, and large sums, as well .is Christmas and other presents in connection with the Durbar, were stolen. The thieves hid in the roof of the station before the train started, and then descended on to a small platform behind the van. During the long run to the next station they wrenched the iron bars from the window, and rilled fifty sacks. It is roughly estimated that they secured £ 120,000. They made their escape when the train slowed down where the lines were being repaired. There are indications that they threw the packets to confederates in a motor-ear, who col lected tlieni.
