The newly enfranchised women of Los Angeles complained to the City Council] about cock-crowing, and threatened to leave the city unless the nuisance was compulsorily stopped. The council drew up an ordinance banishing fowls. THE BRITISH LAND 'TAX. London, November 17 The Court of Appeal confirmed the judgment that forms 4 and 8 of the Land Bill are unauthorised. The Master of the Rolls stated that form 4 was really waste paper. REAR-ADMIRAL'S SUICIDE. New York, November 17. Rear-Admiral J. V. Taylor, retired, aged 82, committed suicide with a revolver at Washington, as the result of despondency and failing health. RAILWAY COLLISION. New York, November 17. The merger is announced of the Southern Californian Electric Railways with a capital of one hundred million dollars. UNREST IN VENEZUELA. New York, November 17. There is great uurest in Venezuela. Castro, who is living in Columbia, is planning an invasion and the Venezuelan Government is taking precautions.
