The count of the second preference votes has altered the primary count in two electorates. At Ballarat East, on the primary count the Ministerialists polled 2737 and the Independent candidate 1718. The Labor candidate, being lowest, dropped out, and his second preferences were distributed, giving the Independent a majority of 127. Received 20, 1.5 a.m. Sydney, November 1!). Mr. McGowen, Premier of New South Wales, declares that the Victorian elections were the first instance in his recollection where Labor had gone back. VICTORIAN PREMIER MAY RESIGN. Received 20, 1 a.m. Melbourne, November 19. It is stated in political circles that Mr. Murray is resigning the Premiership, and that Mr. Watt, Treasurer, is his probable successor.
