BRITAIN AND GERMANY

MR. LLOYD-GEORGE'S SPEECH. A GERMAN VIEW. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Berlin, November 16. Professor Schliemann, in an article in the Kreuz Zeitung, says that Britain, by reason of her obligations under the Franco-British-Moroecan agreement of 105, occupied a position similar to that of Germany in the Bosnian crisis. There had been no threats from the British Government, and Mr. Lloyd-George's speech was not instigated by the Cabinet, and did not possess the significance attached to it. Nevertheless it occasioned great harm, and it was a matter for much regret that Britain had not corrected it. BRITISH FOREIGN POLTCY. Loudon. November IG. The Manchester Guardian cannot understand why Mr. Asquith is unable to give a plain answer, yea or nay, to Mr. Goldman's questions on apparently simple matters of fact. It adds: "Our foreign policy has carried secrecy to extravagant lengths." FULLER INFORMATION DESIRED. Received 18, 1 a.m. Berlin, November 17. The Budget Committee in the Reichstag requested the Government to give full information regarding Mr. LloydGeorge's speech and the causes which Herr von Hollwcg's speech did not touch. The Government's answer will probably be confidential.
