" THE WOMAN IN THE CASE." Speaking of the opening night in Sydney of "The Woman in the Case," which is to be produced at the Theatre Royal on Monday night, the Sydney Morning Herald remarks that Clyde Fitch's new play "posesses a powerful plot and well-told story, and with the powerful east now interpreting the piece its run should be long. Miss Mabel Trevor in the role of the devoted wife gave a sensational surprise, carrying her audience completely away at the end of the i lirst act in an outburst of passion that held everybody spell-bound. Miss Elinor Foster, as the woman in the case, set the seal on her popularity in the first act. As the old lawyer, Mr. Hugh Buckler gave a very fine performance. Mr. (ierald Kay Souper (formerly of the Oscar Asche Company) was perfectly at home as Julian Rolfe. In fact, every member of the company fitted their respectivep arts." "A Fool There Was" will follow "The Woman in the Case" on Tuesday night. Thus play is well known as the "Great Vampire Play," being based on Kipling's poem, and is written by the American dramatist, Porter Emerson Brown. An interesting fact in connection with the Australian production of this play is that Katherine Kaelred, well-known here as Elbert Oiton, when she appeared as leading lady with Julius Knight, made an enormous success in the role of the Vampire Woman in tho ■ American production, and has caused a sensation in the piece in London, where it is at present attracting enormous audiences, three matinees per week being given, in addition to the usual performances. The box plan is now open at Coliler's.
