VICTORIAN ELECTIONS. SMALL MINISTERIAL GAINS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 17, 1 a.m. Melbourne, November 10. The weather was fine for the elections, and a half-holiday was granted. The polling was heavy, and the women turned out well. The poll closed at seven, but the returns were verv slow.
Received 17, 1.5 a.m. Sydney, November 10. No details of the Victorian elections are through. The latest report states that most returns are still incomplete, and it is impossible yet to forecast the result. Probably the parties will be little altered from the last Parliament. On the figures so far available the Ministerialists have gained one seat. The Minister for Finance was re-elected.
IMMIGRATION POLICY. Melbourne, November 1(1. The Minister of External Affairs declares that the Federal Government will take no further action to facilitate intending immigrants getting passages, and will confine itself to advertising. MR. WADE'S POSITION. Sydney, November 16. The Government took no further action against Mr. Wade. In reply to Mr. Wade's question if he was going to proceed with the motion of suspension of expulsion, Mr. MeGowen said: "Wait and see." THE ARBITRATION BILL. Received l(i, 10.35 p.m. Melbourne, November 10. Tn the Senate the Arbitration Bill was put through committee and reported.
A STRICKEN SPEAKER. Received lfi, 1f1.2."i p.m. Adelaide, November lfi. Tn the Assembly', the Premier, at the request of the family of Si.' Penkin Coles, the Speaker, owing to his continued illliealth, moved to declare the Speakership vacant.
