STRIKERS SENTENCED. By Cable—Presa Association—Copyright. London, November 15. Two strikers were sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment for participating in looting during the Liverpool railway strike. A railway porter received eight months' imprisonment for tampering with the points during the strike at Clydaeb. DEMAND FOR MINIMUM WAGE. London. November 15. the Independent Labor Party has given notice of an amendment at the annual conference at Birmingham in January in favor of the establishing by law of a general minimum wage of 30b weekly, also condemning the Government for the use of military during the railway strike. MINERS' WAGES. London, November 15. The Miners' Federation conference has adjourned pending further negotiations and the result of the Conciliation Board's meeting in December. MINERS MAY NOT STRIKE. RAILWAYMEN'S WAGES. Received 16, 11.40 p.m. London, November 16. The Miners' Federation discussed a resolution in favor of an immediate ballot on a general strike, but the amendments to make efforts to secure a settlement without a strike were carried by 366,000 to 228.000. The minority chiefly represented South Wales and Northumberland men.
The Independent Labor Party's resolutions at the Birmingham Conference were in opposition to Mr. Crooks' Labor Dispute Bill, and favored the declaration of a general strike if abolition of picketing were attempted. The Great Northern Railway has increased the minimum wage of the lower grades, with an advance of a shilling a week to those already receiving the new minimum scale.
