.«. WATERSIDE WORKERS' DISPUTE. By Telegrttph —Press Association. Westport, Yesterday. A conference between the Waterside Workers, the Union Steam Ship Company, and the Westport Company, relative to the waterside workers demands, was continued 10-day, but without arriving at an agreement on all point*. In the evening the waterside workers met to hear the report of their representative, and it is understood that they decided to refer the matter to the Federation of Labor to try to arrive at some satisfactory settlement. NEW UXIOX STEAMER. Duncdin, Yesterday. Captain E. P. Evans, of the Aorangi. has been appointed to the command of the Union Company's new steamer Tahiti, due in Sydney next week to enter the, Sydney-Wellington-San Francisco service. Captain Evans distinguished himself in towing the Ximrod to the Antarctic when in chargo of the Koonya. THE MIXES COMMISSIOX. Wellington. Yesterday. The Mines Commission has returned to Wellington, where it is completing its work. At to-day's sitting evidence was taken on the <|iicslion of the advantage., or disadvantages of connecting adjoining mines for the purpose of ventilation.
