The Government lias received information from Germany that Wilhelm Gerlach. who was arrested by the German authorities at Port Said on a charge of the murder of Coleman at Dungog (New South Wales) on November 10. 1000. has been committed for trial. The charge has been reduced < 0 manslaughter, because there is no evidence to show that the crime was prededitated. The delav was caused by Gcrliielfs solicitor lodging a plea of insanity. It was therefore nccosary that the prisoner should im> lodged in a hospital for the insane to undergo mental examination.
