' SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Meteorological Office has issued the following summary and forecast: — Hie westerly storm area which has controlled the weather conditions for a fortnight has continued with increasing intensity to-day, and the barometer at the Bluff this afternoon records a pressure ©f 28.0 inches. Rain has fallen on the West Coast of the South Island and in <other parts. Present indications are for ft heavy westerly gale in parts, veering to southerly. Winds, strong to gale, everywhere after from ten to sixteen noon. Rain is probable generally and much colder weather with snow on the high lands in the south. Heavy seas are probable on all the western coast and increasing shortly southward of Castle Point. A rising barometer is due after 16 noun.
