BRITISH LABOR TROUBLES.
A MANUFACTURER " FULL UP."" AN INTOLERABLE SITUATION. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright Received 12. 5.5 p.m. London. November 11. Owing to the Socialist attempt?, Lord Ashton, who employs thousands in his linoleum manufacturing works at Lancaster, has notified his employees that all not satisfied must leave, as he would rather close his works permanently than advance wages at present. He has also intimated that if the works are closed owing to a railway or coal strike, no wages will be paid. .*nd only loyal men kept on when trade is bad. He says he is determined to end the present intolerable situation, regardless of cost. Lord Ashton is regarded as a model employer, and contributes enormously to local benefactions.
Leading members of the Labor Party regret bis action. Mr. Clynes states that Lord Ashton"s sympathy for trade unionists is well known. THE MINIMUM WAGE QUESTION. London. November 10. The Northumberland Miners' Executive has decided to support the national strike to enforce a minimum wage.
