£BOO.BOO FOR SWINDLING.
FURTHER EFFORTS FOILED. New York, September 14, Swindling operations to rob Englishmen of £ 1,000,000 have been foiled by the arrest on Tuesday at Chicago of S. A. Potter, alias Post, a "get-ric liquid;" confidence man for whom the police have been searching for fifteen months. Tlio annonncemi'nt is made by Inspector Stuart,; of the Federal Secret Service, who made the arrest. Stuart says that Potter interested a wealthy Englishman in a valueless mining scheme. They were arranging the final details for the payment of the money for the worthless mining stock when Potter was arrested. Stuart adds that the rich Londoner (whose name he gives) has already arrived in America, and was awaiting the landing of his associates. now on ilie ocean, before pay--1 ing the money.
