A deputation of leading emigration j agents in Britain complained to Sir G. j Reid of their inability to find shipping ■ accommodation for all the emigrants offering. Many of those accepted had given up farms and situations, and were unable to get away. The Agents-Gen-eral had done everything to secure additional -pace. A ictfiria. Queensland <md \\ c-t Australia were not accepting more until those oil hand had been shipped. The deputation urged that if further -hips were unavailable Sir G. Reid should stop advertising. ro . fused to do this, on the ground that the matter belonged to the AgentsGeneral. but he promised to see if anything could be done.
