At the inquest on Elizabeth Gibson, aged 22, who was found dead on the railway line near Pukcrau on Monday night, a verdict was returned that she jumped from the train when in a state of mental distress. The evidence disclosed the fact that the girl's father and mother bad been drinking, and that they were under the- influence of liquor on the train. The, following pathetic note was written in pencil oil* the flyleaf of a novel or magazine found in her pocket: "Good-bye all! I am heart-broken. Forgive me for doing this, but I hope that this will let my mother know what a curse drink is.—Lill." A postscrip added, ''God help my sisters and brother!"
