Replying to a manhood suffrage deputation" Mr. Asquith ,said a man's right to vote ought to depend on his citizenship, which" wa-s the sole rational course. He would abolish the present qualifications, and give every cvtiwn who was a bona fide inhabitant the franchise ajito-, matically. A simple Hill will be introduced in 11)12 with that object.. Thellill will not include women, brtt it is open to the House of Commons to include them if it pleased. General astonishment was expressed in the lobby. It was understood the Government' contemplated six months' residential qualification. .
