The Brisbane Chamber of Commerce ' received a letter from Mr. Finlayson. Federal Parliamentarian, mentioning the Union Company's proposed extension of the 'Frisco service, which stated that unless the Commonwealth Covernnient arranged" a subsidy the company eonIcnrphited dropping Sydney from the proposed extension. This was a move to i-ounteraet the agitation for a Mel-bourne-Sydney-Brisbanc-Vancouver service, and would need watching, unless Bri-bane was prepared to have a ferviee of any -urt at any price, lie helieved the Commonwealth Oovernmcnt was firm in their attitude t«> refuse to subsidise any service .vbieh would not allow Australian exporters to compete nn eipial term- with New Zealand. The Chamber decided to revise the iptc-tion nf including Bii-bane in the Vancouver ,-erviee.
