I TRUCKER FATALLY HURT. I By Telegraph—Press Association. Gis-borne, Last Night. Charles Forbes, an unmarried man, aged 33 years, was run over :by a truck at the Patutahi quarry this aftrirnoon and died within half an hour. Deceased was driving a horse harnessed to a metal truck and was walking slightly ahead of the truck, when he slipped ami fell on thei track. The heavily loaded vehicle could not be stopped in time, and passed over the man's legs near the thighs, inflicting serious injury. Medical aid was summoned, but the injured man lingered unconsciously for only a short time. ' Deceased is understood to have come from America six years ago, and had resided in '•this distinct for four years. '! LTffLE GIRL'S SUDDEN END. • | Duncdin, Last Night. Letita Janet Miller, aged six and a half years, the daughter of a Brighton farmer, died very suddenly yesterday morning. She was -a healthy child, and went to bed on the evening before in apparently her usual state of health. At 5..'i0 that morning her father looked into her room and she complained that she felt unwell. Shortly afterwards she became dtlirious. Mr. Miller telephoned for Dr. Wills, but by the time the medical man arrived at 2.30 p.m., the girl had been .dead two hours. FOUND DROWNED. Wellington, Tuesday. .The body of the man found in the harbor vest: rday has been identified as that, of Duncan McColl, formerly as-si-umt librarian at the Parliament Buildings. McColl had been working on a farm at WaitoUra, and came here for the. rai-es. lie was last seen on October 25. The body appeared to have Tjeen in the water for about nine days. The features are unrecognisable. An inquest will be held to-day. SAWMILL ACCIDENT. Taihape, Tuesday. Late yesterday afternoon John McLees, aged 4,0, a single man, was killed while working in the bush, log-hauling for Bennett and Anderson's mill. He was riding on the rear of a. truck, when the rope broke and the. trucks left the rails. The log rolled over, pinning McLees to the ground and killing him instantly. He was trying to apply the brake, but failed. His mates called out a warning to him to get clear, but he persevered in his attempt to stop the, runaways. VERDICT AT .AX INQUEST. Taihape, Tuesday. At the inquest yesterday on Everett, a \erdict was returned of suH'ocatiou ensuing on the excessive drinking of brandy.
