Mr. Alt'. Dillon, the retiring member for llawkc's Bay. celebrated' bis 701 h birthday on Thursday. He was in Hastings and did not think of the anniversary until a telegraph messenger handed him the following characteristic message from Sir .lames Carroll: ''Life's allotted span and .->till going .-Hong. Kia lira to you, Had, and many happy returns of the day."
