Till' INVEIK'ABGILL SEAT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Invereargill, Last Night. The Invereargill News publishes an article and editorial i-ommi ut thereon regarding the split of the local l>abor party over the candidature of Mr. Farrant as Labor representative at the general election. The paper hints at the jealousy of another Labor man who was not chosen. It has been an open secret for some time that Mr. Farrant has not the united labor party behind him, and he already has been publicly twitted with lack of understanding of the platform of the Labor party. • ———— ' THE ASH BURTON SEAT. Ashburton, Last Night. The campaign for the Ashlmrtou seat was .formally opened in the Thnitre Royal to-night, when Mr. John McLachlan, who announced himself as a supporter of the Liberal Government, addressed an audience of about seven hundred people. A vote of thanks was carried unanimously. THE MOTUEKA SEAT. Nelson, Last Night. The Hon. R. McKenzie, Minister of Public Works and .Miines, and member for Motuck-a, is now campaigning- in his electorate. ' THE TARANAKI SKAT. A very good meeting of Liberals was held at. (Ikatii !a>i night, and was attended by a depulatiou from the central executive. The proceedings throughout were of a. very hearty and enthusias- : tic nature, and a strong committee was set. up to secure the return of Mr. Bellringer, tlio Liberal candidate, at the forthcoming election.
