Mr. W. A. Boucher, local representative for the last three years for Mr. has received notice of his transfer on promotion to Auckland, anil leaves in about ten days. A Cliristchurcli telegram states that Mr. Peter Pender, formerly an Inspector of Police, died at Redcliffs yesterday, at the age of 84 years. Alderton, one of the oldest identities'.of Parneil, died at his reside.ijce, Cheshire street, on Thursday evening. at the age of 71 years. The late Mr Alderton landed in Auckland from the ship John Scott in 1859, and has since been <a resident of Auckland. He was a native of Norfolk, and was • prominent member of the Manchester Unity of Oddfellows. He fought in the Maori wars in the militia and volunteers. He i» survived by hi* wife, six sons, two daughters, 18 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Mr. W. Dingle, of Ilawera, died on Saturday. The interment took place at To Hcnui cemetery, Now Plymouth, yesterday. Says' the Ilawera Star:--The announcement will hardly come as a surprise to friends, fcr it was pretty generally known some months ago that the illness from which he was suffering watt incurable. Society; also he was one of the leading members of the Bowling Club, and in mauv way# will be greatly missed. Mr. Dingle leaves a widow and grown-up family of One son and three daughters, one of the latter lieing Mrs. Alex. Hunter. A large circle of friends and acquaintances will sympathise with Mrs. Dingle and family in their bereavement, and regret the loss of n goiid settler and citizen.
