THE 'FRISCO SERVICE.
EXTENSION TO SYDNEY. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Melbourne, November 4. It is announced that the Union Company intends to extend the WellingtonSail Francisco service to Sydney. The steamer Tahiti will inaugurate the service, sailing to Sydney oil December 9. The Maitai and Aorangi will also be employed. A 28 days' service wall be maintained. No definite decision has been readied respecting a Commonwealth subsidy, but probably an amount will be voted. RIVAL SHIPPING COMPANIES. Received 0, 1.4 a.m. Sydney, November 5. Mr. Spronl, the Sydney agent of the Oceanic Steamship Company, declares that the company has no intention of abandoning the proposed renewal of the Sydney-Ran Francisco service, owing to the decision of the Union Company to extend the Wellington-San Francisco service to Sydney. Tie knew some time ago that the Union Company was. likely to take this step, and it will in no way affect his company. He stated the company would definitely make the first sailing from San Francisco in May or, at the latest, .Tune of next year.
