SAUNDERS' BIOGRAPH PICTURES. " CAPTAIN' KATE." Xew Plymouth patrons can always anticipate sonvething uwiquo when Saunders' Pictures -advertise a. shir attraction, but it is doubtful it' any of thu j large audience, were prepared for the thrill that "Captain Rate" aroused on Saturday night. The Selig Company havo latch' produced a number of pictures in which their great menagerie lias prominently figured, examples already shown in Wlhiteley Hall being "Survival of the Fittest," "Zululand," "Hack to the Primitive" and last, but certainly not least, '•'Captain Kate." This truly remarkable picture shows a beautiful girl, who is deserted by her native carriers and guides in the African wilds, after the death of her father, a wild animal collector The heroine finds solace in the companionship ot a pair of tame leopards.. Wild -lion* prowl around her log hut, and when the last cartridge has been fired sihe lets out her leopards to.attack the lions. The leopards kill one of the Mons and put the other to flight. The scones are realistic, 'an<l unique, .the whole effect thrilling, aiul it is little wonder the picture aroused the utmost enthusiasm. This one picture does not by any means finish the star items on the new programme; almost every picture could ho singled out for special mention if space permitted. The latest Pa the ftoz.Hte is a revelation. "Gencvivo of Scotland." "The Floating Message" and ''The Light-house-keeper's Peril," are three of "the finest dramatic subjects we have ever had the privilege of witnes-siny. Three of the world's leading novelty vaudeville ■•turns" are shown with three distinct films "llonocycle Display" by Miss Lily; "The Six Crompton Girls" (which metaphorically brought down the house on Saturday), and Mdlle llippolita D'Hellas, in her ''Silhouette Dances" that havo so recently been the rage of London and Paris." J *Lggs and Babies," a. Viiagrapli comedy, was freely discussed In' Saturday's audience as tile finest subject vet shown.
