" SEROEAXT BRUE." Accounts fof Clarke and Mevncll's recent comic opera, attractions have considerably paved the way for the coming of "Sergeant Brno," which is to have its premiere for one night only at the Theatre. Royal on Thursday next, Xovemher 0. '"'Sergeant Brue" is to bo interpreted by a complete company of operatic artists, the principals of whieli are from England and have not been seen in the Dominion before, Clarke and Meynell have certainly set a verv hi>»li standard with their previous attractions, and it is said that the production of "Sergeant Brue" loses nothing by comparison. The success of the new comic opera in England and America, which was recently confirmed in Australia. is said to be due to its all-round excellence. The book is well-written and arranged, and it is chock full of ,earhaunting melodies, dclieiously seductive waltzy numbers, bright and catchy comics, dramatic choruses, the latest English, American and Continental danco novelties, crowds of beautiful ballet, chorus and show girls; and the scenery is said to surpass anything yet seen in a musical play. The dressing is exquisitely unique; the march of the London police, the grand finale to the first act, in which every member of the company is cal'lcd upon to participate, is most' inspiring, and calls forth vociferous cheering. A full orchestra of seventeen baa been brought from Australia and will be conducted by Mr. Wynne Jones. The box plan opens at Collier's at !) o'clock this morning.
RICHARDS' VArj)EVTIXE COMPANY. The Harry Richards Vaudeville Company of artists, most of whom are new to New Plymouth, will appear this evening at the Theatre Royal. The company will arrive this morning from the nortli, The programme this evening promises many novelties. The names prominently featured are of artists holding leading positions on the vaudeville stage in England and America, and have appeared with signal success in Australia. A better all-round company' has seldom come across the Tasman Sea under the auspices of the firm of which the (ill crprMii'g head has just passed away, regret'.d by thousands, for whom his artists have provided many pleasant hours. Tt is conceded on all sides that the artists are so brilliant that they make up a galaxy of talent brighter tliaii anything ve have had this way for many moons. The hooking for this evening is exceptionally heavy, and intending patrons would do well to secure their scats in advance at Collier's, where the box plan is still on view.
