BOWLING.
FITZROY CLUB. The .Fitzroy Bowling Club hold its official opening yesterday afternoon. The president (Mr. IlealyJ in opening the season, congratulated the club on the good attendance and presented the championship cup to Mr. S. Rendall, whom he congratulated. He also presented a pair of bowls to Messrs. Abbott and Bennett (champion pairs). Mr. B. Callender won the prize (a smoker's cabinet) presented by Mr. John Avery for the progressive pairs. Mr. J. C. Morey was also presented with a pair of bowls (pairs). Mr. Ewing, on behalf of the New Plymouth Club, congratulated the club on its successful opening, mentioning that a banner was to be played for during the season, which would give a fillip ,t 0 the games locally A match was played between rinks chosen by the president and vice-president respectively.
