BOWLING.
WEST END CLUB. The West End Bowling Club opened the season for IIHI-12 yesterday afternoon in good weather, although a fair breeze was blowing from the west. Mr. J. ]). Role, ina short speech, referred to the progress the club had made, and thanked the other clubs for the assistance they had given to bring the W.K.B.C. to its present successful position. Mr. Brooking replied on behalf of' the New Plymouth Club. The timehonored custom of throwing the jack ' was performed bv Mrs. liigelow. the wife of the club's secretary, after which Mr. Sole declared the green open for play. A match was plaved between sides chosen by the president and vice-presi-dent, and resulted in a win for the latter by 40 points. The scores were:— I'. V.P. ■Martin, flreiner, Wood. Bundle '25 Cornev.
