FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WILL NOT PROSECUTE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Melbourne, November 1. In reply to questions in the Federal House, Mr. Hughes declared that he could not prosecute the wharf laborers, as the trouble was confined to one State. THE LEGAL ASPECT. I MEN MAY RESUME. Sydney, November 1. It is expected that tKe~wharf laborers will decide to resume work at tonight's meeting. It is stated that they did not fully realise the legal aspect when they struck. DEEP SEA MEN. "WE'LL ALL BE OUT TO-MORROW." Received 2. 1.10 a.m. Sydney, November 1. The strike outlook is less hopeful. A mass meeting of wharf laborers, ineluding the deep sea section, lasted to a very late hour. The press was not admitted. Everybody concerned is extremely reticent, and disclosed nothing of a definite nature. There is reason to believe, however, the trouble will be extended to the deep sea section, and they will possibly be out to-morrow. The men left in high spirits. One declared, e will all be out to-morrow." THE MT. LYELL DISPUTE. Melbourne, November 1.
The Mt. Lycll directors have posted notice intimating that they distinctly decline to reinstate White. If the men choose to declare the strike off they will be re-engaged as required.
