NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. _The annual meeting of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association was held to-night, Mr. H. M. Gore presiding over an attendance of twenty-three delegates. The annual report and balance-sheet and quarterly report (all previously published) were adopted. The election of officers resulted: Patron, His Excellency the Governor; vice-presidents, Messrs. W. R. Holmes (Auckland.), William Goss (Canterbury), F. Logan (Hawke's Bay), C. J. W. Griffiths (Marlborough), C. H. Broad (Nelson), R. Bauchop (Otago), R. T. Tennent (Southland), Dr. H. B. Leatham (Taranaki), C. N. Stout (Wanganui), H. G. Gore (Wellington), and Dr. Teichelmann (West Coast); delegate to Lawn Tennis Association, Dr. Eaves; delegate to Lawn Tennis Association of Australasia, Messrs. V. H. Baxter, Metcalfe, and Wetherby, a fourth to be appointed by the management committee; committee of management, Messrs. Barton, F. M. B. Fisher, M.P., H. M. Gore, Redward, F. P. Wilson, G. A. Hurley and V. T. Gray; lion, auditor, Mr. H. G. Didsbury; secretary and treasurer, Mr. Arthur J. Petherick. It was decided that the appeal committee be located in Auckland, and that the appointment of the committee be left in the hands of the executive. The matter of electing a president was left in the hands of tile management committee. On the motion of Mr. F. M. B. JFisher, it was decided that the meeting place on record its appreciation of the efficient services rendered by Mr. A. J. Petherick as secretary. Mr. T. Gray (Otago) moved, on behalf of the Otago Association, that no association be entitled to exercise votes for increased strength unless application for such increase of voting power is in proper order, and in the hands of the secretary of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Assoication at least fourteen days prior to the meeting at which such incerased power is exercised. The mover did not know that Otago's proposal was the bset that could be formulated, but it was a step in the right direction. After being amended to permit of it becoming an amendment of the rules, the motion was carried. The Waikato Association was granted admission to the N.Z. Association subject to its constitution being in order. The new association has. Hamilton as its centre. The Masterton Club protested against the dates, January 20, 22 and 23 of the Wellington Association for the championship tourney, which they considered usurped dates for the Wai'rarapa championships and handicap tournament. These dates had ruled in Wairarapa for the past sixteen years. Mr. Keen moved that the protest be referred back to the Wellington Association, Masterton Club, he considered, had no standing so far as the N.Z. Association was concerned, and its protest should come through the Wellington Association.. Professor Hunter moved, as an amendment, that the matter be left in the I hands of the management committee. | After some discussion the amendment 1 was carried. The meeting unanimously approved of the Daylight Saving Bill, and a vote of thanks was accorded Mr. T. K. Sidey, M.P., for his efforts in connection with the Bill. Mr. F. M. B. Fisher stated tha he had received word from Mr. Stephen Herrvhew, editor of "American Lawn Tennis," that Messrs. Larned, 'Beals, Wright and McLauchlin would visit New Zealand in connection with the Davis Cup tournament. Larned, who had been four times the singles champion of America, had declined to make the trip unless Beals, Wright and McLauchlin also went. After some trouble it had been arranged that the three should go. It was the finest team America could possibly send away. Mr. Fisher explained that his information was not official. A member stated that intimation had been received that the men would leave America on October 4 and spend six weeks in New Zealand for practice before the tournament com- j meneed. i
