NEW SCALE OP PAY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. Sir John Findlay states that Cabinet has approved the new scale of pay for the police, which provides for the increase of constables' minimum pay to Ss a day, with increments of sixpence a day every three years until a maximum of 0s (id is reached. Long service constables will receive an additional sixpence after fourteen years, and a further sixpence I'ftcr twenty years. The pay of ofliccrs and uon-comnii=sioncd officers will lie considered later.
Sir John Kimllay is now considering the system of furnishing ollicers of the force with houses. A 1 present some arc renting and others livhu: in houses provided liv the Stale. He proposes to make the svstem uniform.
