. SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Meteorological Office has issued j the following summary and forecast:—| Bain has fallen on the West Coast and j in the southernmost districts of the South Island, and a westerly gale prevailed in Foveaux Strait during Monday Bight. Squally and divergent winds were reported this morning in various parts, tat moderate to strong westerlies have prevailed, with fair and warm weather generally. The barometer rose during the night in the south. Present indications are for increasing haze and cloudiness generally, but especially in the northern and southernmost districts. Moderate to strong westerly winds will probably gwe way to increasing northerlies and a falling barometer everywhere after about sixteen hours.
