"BOOSTING" POVERTY BAY.
A START TO BE MADE SOON. By Telegraph—Press Association. Gisborne, Last Night. At the Chamber of Commerce this afternoon, the president (Mr. J. W. Bright) commented in favorable terms on the "boosting" methods employed in America to advertise different towns and districts, and advocated a similar plan for Gisborne, if the Chamber had funds. The discussion generally deprecated the disparaging remarks made as to Gisborne's isolated condition, which lead outsiders to believe the town was inaccessible. It was stated that during the past five years only two steamers had been unable to call at the port. The matter will be further considered at next meeting with a view to arriving at a scheme for "boosting" Poverty Bay.
