Paul has been asked by the Otago Labor Representation Council to be a candidate in the Labor interests for Dunedin North. It is understood that Mr. Paul will confer with the representatives of the council on Monday, when he will make known his decision in regard to the council's request. ' DATE OF ELECTIONS. We understand the elections will take place on the 20th November or Cth December, probably the former. THE TAUMARUX!'] SEAT. Mr. W. T. Jennings, M.P., opens his campaign at Waitara to-night. He speaks at Awakino to-morrow night, and on Wednesday 'evening addresses the Te Kuiti electors. Mr. Jennings, it be seen, will have to "move some" to get to. the different places, especially in the state of the roads at present. THE EGMOXT SEAT. The Leader of the Opposition speaks at Eltham to-night and at Manaia tomorrow night. lion. T. .Mackenzie opens his campaign at Kaponga to-night, and to-morrow night will speak at Eltham. TTITS STRATFORD SEAT. Mr. Joseph McCluggago met the electors at York road on Friday and had an audience of seventy, nearly half being ladies. Mr. McCluggage spoke on similar lines to his previous addresses, and received a g.iod bearing, and was bmdly applauded at the conclusion. A vine'of thanks and conlid'. nee in the candidate, was carried unanimously, also a vote of confidence in the Ward Government. The night was hath cold and wet.

Hurley presided. The candidate received a'unanimous vote of thanks and confidence, on the motion of Mr. Clray, seconded by Mr. Turner. A strong committee was subsequently formed, with .Mr. Hurley as chairman and Mr. Taylor secretary.
