THE SYDNEY FIRE.
DAMAGE NOT EXTENSIVE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, October 27. The fire started in the premises of the Parramatta Woollen Company, which occupied the two top flats. These and the higher floors of Moorfoots were burned out. The lower floors, where there was a large number of motor ears, lorries, oil and other stock, were damaged by water and smoke. A number of smaller tenants also suffered.
The brigade were handicapped by the poor water supply. A squad of bluejackets from the warships rendered valuable assistance in removing motors and helping the firemen. The damage, estimated at £IO,OOO, is covered by insurances. DAMAGE £20,000. Received 28, 1.10 a.m. Sydney, October 27. A later estimate of damage by the fire in the Parramatta Woollen Company's premises is £20,000. It is covered by insurance.
